Actor Amol Parashar, known for films like Rocket Singh and Sardar Udham, revealed that he was stuck in Bangkok when tremors were felt across Thailand following the massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar on March 28. The actor is now back in Mumbai, safe and sound.

Amol told ETimes that when he first felt the tremors, he did not realise it was an earthquake and thought his head was spinning. “My friends and I were on a short trip to Thailand. We had just landed in Bangkok, and I was buying myself a coffee when I felt the tremors. I thought maybe my head was spinning. I turned to my friend, who said, ‘I think my head is spinning’. At that moment, I knew it was something else,” he shared.

He went on to say that he then felt as if the ground beneath his feet was shaking and he even saw things falling off the shelves in stores around him. “We ran out of the shop immediately and moved to a common area. By then, many people had realised it was an earthquake,” he said.

Amol revealed that he, along with his friends, got into their car, but they journey to their hotel was a rather long one. “Metro lines had shut down, and offices and shops closed down, and the whole city turned into a huge traffic jam. It took us five gruelling hours to reach our hotel,” he rued.

However, Amol highlighted how the locals maintained their composure despite the calamity and displayed civic sense. “No one was breaking rules, shouting, honking or fighting,” he said.

Myanmar was hit with a massive earthquake of 7.7 magnitude on March 28, with its epicentre close to Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city. The tremors were felt in Thailand, China and Vietnam as well.

Over 5000 people died in Myanmar due to the earthquake, while around 36 casualties were reported in Thailand.
