Captain of Team India: After losing the Test series 1-3 on the Australian tour, there are concerns about who will be India’s next Test captain. Due to poor form, Rohit Sharma took a big decision of opting out of the last Test in Sydney. Jasprit Bumrah captained the team in that Test but due to workload, he once again got injured and was unable to bowl in the last innings. Looking at the fitness of Jasprit Bumrah, I do not think he should be made the full time captain. Meanwhile, the question is who will be the next captain? The answer to this has been given by former Australian captain Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist has not chosen a young player but a 36-year-old experienced player as the next captain of India.

Adam Gilchrist said that ‘If Jasprit Bumrah is appointed as the full-time captain then it can be a challenge for him but I would not be surprised if he hands over the captaincy to Virat Kohli. ‘Change in leadership? I don’t know whether Bumrah should be a full-time captain or not. I think this might be a bit challenging for them. So who the next captain might be is really anyone’s guess. Even if they take Virat back, I would not be surprised if they would have no objection to doing so.

India’s next Test series after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be the tour of England in June 2025. Adam Gilchrist has predicted that ‘Rohit Sharma will not go to England. I don’t think Rohit will go to England. I mean, the first thing she will meet after reaching home is the two month old baby whose nappy she has to change. He may get a chance to play in the Champions Trophy. He also has to play some limited overs cricket against England. Then he will go to the Champions Trophy. He will give it a chance to play and then probably be out.
