ACB Nabs MSEDCL Wireman Red-Handed While Accepting ₹30,000 Bribe in Palghar | Representative Image
Palghar, Maharashtra: A contractual worker with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has been apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and accepting a bribe. The accused, identified as Rajesh Chandrakant More, a wireman at the MSEDCL’s Palghar branch, was arrested on Wednesday.
According to the ACB, More demanded Rs 30,000 from a complainant who had recently obtained an electricity connection for a shrimp farming project in the Palghar district. The bribe was allegedly solicited to ensure the timely and adequate power supply to the complainant’s project.
Following the complaint, the ACB officials set up a trap, leading to More’s arrest while he was accepting the bribe. He has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Palghar police station.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Palghar ACB) Harshal Chavan confirmed the arrest and stated that an ongoing investigation is underway. This arrest highlights the continued efforts of the ACB to combat corruption within government and semi government organizations.
