Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya was all over the news of late after he criticised Dua Lipa and fans for not crediting him despite using his song ‘Woh Ladki’ during her concert in Mumbai and passing it off as ‘Shah Rukh Khan’s song’. And now, he stated in an interview that he does not need SRK’s support to prove himself, and that the superstar was not human anymore.

In an interview with ANI, Abhijeet opened up on his bond with SRK and the time when he decided to stop singing for the actor after giving him a number of hits.

“When I saw that they were acknowledging everyone – like a tea vendor who serves tea on set – but not acknowledging the singer, I felt, ‘Why should I be your voice?’,” Abhijeet shared.

He added that his relationship with SRK was never “broken”. “It’s just that he is now such a huge star that he’s no longer just a human being,” he said.

Abhijeet also stated that the two never felt the need to ‘apologise’ as there was never a fight. “Both of us have egos. Our birthdays are just a day apart; we are both Scorpios. But I’m the bigger Scorpio. I don’t need him or his support,” he added.

It all began after Dua Lipa surprised her fans on November 30 by performing the viral mashup of Levitating and Woh Ladki in Mumbai. After the videos surfaced, Abhijeet’s son Jay Bhattacharya took to social media to criticise people for overlooking his father’s contribution to the iconic song and mentioned that Woh Ladki is “not about SRK” but is a creation of his father and Anu Malik.

Later, Abhijeet too stated that Dua should have credited his song in the mashup during the concert.
