Singer Udit Narayan found himself in controversy after a video went viral showing him kissing his female fans on the lips during his live performance of Tip Tip Barsa Paani, leading to immediate backlash for his inappropriate behaviour. Amid this, Udit’s friend, singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya called him a “khiladi.”
Abhijeet shared a video with Udit on his Instagram handle, which is a compilation of their live events when they sang the title track Main Khiladi Tu Anari from the 1994 film of the same name, which was sung by the iconic singer duo. As a caption, Abhijeet wrote, “#YehKhiladiMainAnari😂🤦♂️.” In the comments section, he added, “Mera Khiladi dost.”

On Saturday, Udit defended himself following the viral kissing video, calling himself “decent.” Speaking to Hindustan Times, the singer said, “Fans itne deewane hote hain na. Hum log aise nahi hain, hum decent log hain. Some people encourage this and show their love through this. Udaake kya karna hai ab iss cheez ko?”
“There are so many people in the crowd, and we have bodyguards present too. But fans think they are getting a chance to meet, so someone extends their hands for a handshake, some kiss the hands… yeh sab deewangi hoti hai. Uspe itna dhyaan nahi dena chahiye,” he added.

Further, Udit suggested that there might be an ulterior motive behind the kissing controversy, mentioning that his family’s image often attracts such attention. He added that even his son, Aditya Narayan, stays “chup chaap” but doesn’t get involved in controversies.
“There is madness when I am singing on stage, fans love me, I think let them be happy. Otherwise iss type ke log hum hain hi nahi. Humein bhi unko khush karna hota hai,” said the singer.
