With Delhi Assembly elections around the cornor, political parties are campaigning aggressively. On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party claimed that BJP supporters attacked AAP MLA Mohinder Goyal, and he was threatened with being shot.
AAP shared a video of the confrontation on social media and wrote, “BJP has now resorted to violence seeing their impending defeat!! BJP’s frustration has increased to such an extent that they are now openly orchestrating life-threatening attacks on AAP MLAs. Today, BJP goons attacked AAP MLA Mohinder Goyal ji – and are threatening the MLA saying ‘I will shoot you!'”
“Delhi residents, think about it! When they’re not even in power, they’re threatening to shoot an MLA. If you mistakenly vote for them, tomorrow they’ll threaten to shoot common people and turn Delhi into a den of hooliganism. Mr. Amit Shah, if you can’t defeat us in elections, will you now get AAP leaders and workers killed? Delhi’s public will respond to this hooliganism with their vote on February 5!” AAP stated.
Meanwhile, Rithala constituency candidate Mohinder Goyal shared a video of the incident, claiming that he faced a life-threatening attack in Sector 11 on Saturday.
Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has also condemned the incident and targeted the BJP. Responding to the incident, Kejriwal said in a social media post, “BJP is badly losing the election in Delhi – in frustration, these people have now resorted to violence. We strongly condemn the attack on our MLA Mohinder Goyal from Rithala.”
