The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Parminder Singh Grewal on Friday convicted Yadav in this case and pronounced the verdict on Saturday. A fine of Rs 11,000 was also imposed on Yadav, who was present in the court at the time of sentencing.

The court upheld the two-year sentence of two other persons (Vijay Kumar and Gaurav Kumar). Another accused Nand Kishore has been acquitted by the subordinate court.

Yadav was acquitted by a trial court in March 2021 in a defamation case. After this, complainant Muhammad Ashraf filed an appeal against his acquittal. Police had earlier registered a case against Vijay, Gaurav and Kishore, but later AAP MLA Yadav was arrested in this case.
