Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders were booked for burning Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav’s effigy in Gwalior, on Sunday.

The list of booked politicians include AAP state secretary Amit Sharma, district president Amitabh Pandey, former assembly candidates and 15 to 20 others.

According to information, AAP members staged a protest on Saturday (April 5), at the Kila Gate area under Gwalior police station limits, against the bail granted to ex-RTO constable Saurabh Sharma

The protesters called it ‘government negligence.’ During the protest, an effigy of CM Mohan Yadav was reportedly set on fire using petrol, despite police warnings.

The fire put the lives of bystanders and police personnel at risk and caused disruption to public movement.

Protests erupt across state

Acting upon the matter, police have filed an FIR against AAP state secretary Amit Sharma, district president Amitabh Pandey, Rohit Gupta, Ashish Rai, and several others for organizing the protest without permission and endangering public safety.

It’s worth noting that several political parties, including Congress and AAP, have been holding statewide protests over the bail of Saurabh Sharma.

In Gwalior, AAP staged a demonstration, raising slogans against the Madhya Pradesh CM. They also proceeded to burn his effigy without official clearance, which led to legal action.
