Pune: AAP Leader Raviraj Kale Demands Police Chowki In Pimple Nilakh, To Launch Hunger Strike On May 1 | X/@RavirajKale17

Raviraj Kale, Youth President, Aam Aadmi Party, Pimpri-Chinchwad, will sit on a hunger strike on May 1, demanding a new police chowki at Pimple Nilakh and Vishalnagar, as residents of the area have to travel 3–4 km to file a police complaint. The residents of the respective areas will also come out in support and will stage a protest along with Kale.

Around 100–150 people will come together for the protest, demanding a police chowki under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate at Pimple Nilakh and Vishalnagar. The participants will include engineers and employees of IT companies, retired defence officers, and people from different walks of life.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Kale said, “A new police chowki is necessary and required in Vishalnagar and Pimple Nilakh because there have been cases of eve-teasing and harassment of women going to work and for studies. Women and people who are dependent on public transport have to struggle a lot just to reach the police station to file a complaint. At present, the police station is situated in Sangvi, and if we get a police chowki at Pimple Nilakh or somewhere in Vishalnagar, it will help us a lot. We will not have to travel 4 km to file a complaint. Also, I feel we need more patrolling in this area because a lot of illegal activities take place at night, and if we have a police chowki nearby, it can be controlled. I’ll sit on a hunger strike until we get approval for the police chowki in our area.”

“The new police chowki will provide relief to women, senior citizens, girls, students, and villagers. We wrote regarding the same to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State BJP President Chandrakant Patil. Accordingly, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (IGP), Director General of Police, sent a letter to the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner on January 1, 2025, requesting him to take appropriate action in accordance with this statement. But even after two months, no action has been taken by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. Therefore, for the safety of the citizens, a separate police chowki should be opened,” added Kale.
