Mumbai: Mumbai-based Aaji Care Foundation has started Goa’s first Assisted Living Centre for elderly care. This became the organisation’s fifth assisted living centre which will provide geriatric care to elders with Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Parkinson’s among others.

Operating four centres in Mumbai, Thane and Pune for more than a decade, Aaji Care is involved in care-giving to ailing senior citizens and patient care services at home. Recently, the organisation started its fifth Assisted Living Centre in Goa, which was inaugurated by Goa’s IT Minister Rohan Khaunte. The centre, located in Old Goa’s Ella Village, will offer long-term and short-term care for elders with multiple physical and psychological conditions.

Some of the center’s main attractions include a 24-hour nursing care, regular physiotherapy sessions, yoga sessions, specialized and healthy meals, and a cozy environment. The vicinity also offers a swimming pool, a garden, a clubhouse, and access to a large multi-specialty hospital in 2 min. It has dedicated a separate floor to elders suffering from Alzheimer and Dementia.

The inauguration ceremony felicitated six prominent ‘Silver Youngs’ inspiring them as the right examples of active aging, Aaji Care also introduced their first magazine called “Ageing Gracefully,” dedicated to Elders and their families, which will be distributed across Goa, Mumbai, Thane and Pune. The organisation also provides dementia care sessions at home for elders in Mumbai and Thane who are experiencing loneliness and psychological problems.
