Aadhaar’s New Record: 150 billion certification complete, 40% jump in e-KYC!

New Delhi: The government said on Friday that as an important achievement, the total number of Aadhaar certification transactions has crossed the figure of 150 billion (15,011.82 crore). In addition, the total number of EKYC transactions (37.3 crore) conducted during April is 39.7 percent more than the same period last year.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT said that by April 30, the cumulative number of e-KYC transactions has crossed 2,393 crore. The Ministry said that it is a milestone in the journey of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and the broad base ecosystem.

Aadhaar-based certification is playing an important role in making life easier, effective welfare distribution and voluntary services provided by service providers. The ministry said that about 210 crore base authentication transactions were done in April alone, which is about 8 percent more than this month in 2024.

Aadhaar E-KYC service is playing an important role in improving customer experience in sectors including banking and non-banking financial services and easing trade. In-house developed Artificial Intelligence-Masin-based base face authentication solutions by UIDAI are becoming continuously popular.

There were about 14 crore such transactions in April, which are a sign of adopting this certification method and the Aadhaar number holders get comfortable benefits from it. The ministry said that more than 100 institutions in both government and private sectors are using face authentication for profit and smooth delivery of services.

In FY 2025, Aadhaar number holders conducted more than 2,707 crore certification transactions in 2024-25. Aadhaar has been a promoter of the digital economy, and its growing use reflects its growing role in various fields including banking, finance, telecommunications, and its use is also increasing for smooth distribution of benefits under various government schemes and services.

On April 21, UIDAI was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for excellence in public administration. The award was given under the Innovation category for UIDAI’s face authentication modelity.
