Mumbai – Just as citizens are given Aadhaar cards with photos and all details, the Panvel Municipal Corporation has completed the work of preparing Aadhaar card by getting data from Artificial Intelligence (AI) based survey of stray dogs and cats for the first time. This will help control the population of stray animals. In addition, the danger of spreading animal -borne diseases will also be avoided.

In Panvel, 19,307 dogs and 5,080 cats were recorded in the AI-based survey. In this survey, the photo, male or female, age and physical condition of each animal have been recorded in the Aadhaar card. As a result, it will be easier to identify dog bites immediately. All these records will be kept by the Health Department.

The Panvel Municipal Corporation has launched this campaign with the aim of liberating the city from the problem of dogs. Now, due to the available data on stray dogs and cats, bonding, castration and vaccination campaign can be expedited. According to health department sources, Panvel Municipal Corporation has sterilized 44% of its dogs since 2018.

Commissioner Mangesh Chitle said that this work done with the help of AI will prevent the number of stray dogs from increasing and the bites of rabies will also be eliminated by the bites of dogs. We have adopted the slogan of ‘rabies free Panvel’. It is expected that if other municipalities and municipalities also follow the initiative taken by Panvel Municipal Corporation, then good results will be seen.
