Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Time has come to say goodbye to 2024. Each year gives and takes something. But the year that is going to pass into the pages of history in a few hours from now has not been different from other time. It can be said that 2024 has been the year of stability in Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav strengthened his position. He has emerged as a strong chief minister. When Yadav was taking oath, there were speculations that what kind of CM he will be. He began to work in a different way.

It seems Yadav’s mantra to run the government is to work hard, take decisions and keep away from tension. There has been a flutter in administrative wings throughout the year. New officers took over as chief secretary (CS) and director general of police (DGP). The appointment of Anurag Jain in place of Veera Rana has not been less than a silver-screen script.

The decision to appoint Jain as CS was taken at noon on the day Rana was retiring. Kailash Makwana was appointed as new DGP in place of Sudhir Saxena. It, too, can be called an unexpected appointment.

Every year something happens, which remains etched in our mind for a long time. The foundation laying ceremony of the Ken-Betwa and Parvati-Kalisindh Chambal river-linking projects will be written in the pages of history.

Similarly, the ruling party winning all the 29 parliamentary seats was a feather in its cap. Another important event is the high court order to remove hazardous chemical waste from the UCC factory site after 40 years of the gas tragedy.

Seizure of drugs worth Rs 1,800 crore in Bhopal was a big event, but at the end of the year, the raids by Lokayukta sleuths stole the limelight. Fifty-two kg gold and Rs 11 crore found in an abandoned car will be inscribed in the memory forever. The government has an opportunity to do away with corruption to some extent.

Starting from the Transport Department, the government can act against corruption in other places. After the raids, the political parties may decide against taking any funds from liquor contractors, transport and mining departments. If it happens, it will be the biggest of achievements in 2025.
