New Delhi: In the last five years, there has been an increase of 47.50 percent in the export of fruits from India. Free trade agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Australia have also led to an increase in the export of fruits to these two countries. Minister of State for Commerce Jitin Prasad told the Rajya Sabha that exports to the United Arab Emirates have increased by 27 percent and Australia six percent.
India mainly exports mango, grapes, bananas, apples, pineapple, pomegranate and lemon. Total fruit exports have increased by 47.50 percent in the last five years.
The government is making every effort to ensure that the level of pesticides in the fruits remains very low and the quality of fruits remains in line with international standards. He said that other markets are also being searched to increase the export of fruits. Prasad said.
Meanwhile, he stated in a written reply to another question that the proposed free trade agreement with Britain will help India increase the export of textiles, jewelery, processed agricultural products, etc.
Since 2022, 14 rounds of trade talks with Britain have been held.
