Severe cold is occurring in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Christmas day was 22.4 degrees Celsius.

Which is two degrees more than the average temperature. The minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius. Which is 1.5 degrees Celsius less than normal.

Minimum temperatures have dropped at most places in Kashmir. Severe cold continues in the valley due to which many reservoirs and water pipelines have frozen in many areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Kashmir is expected to drop by two to three degrees Celsius in the next two days.

Except Gulmarg, all other weather stations in Kashmir valley have recorded a drop in night temperatures. Kashmir Valley is currently going through the Chillai Kalan phase which started from December 21. During this period there is severe cold for 40 days.

226 roads had to be closed due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh. Maximum 123 roads are closed in Shimla.
