Moment Adrien Brody takes gum from mouth and throws it to his girlfriend before going up to accept Best Actor Oscar win |

If you missed out on the Oscars in the rush to stay afloat with the Monday blues, just remember these three results: Anora won Best Picture, Adrian Brody got the Best Actor for The Brutalist and Mikey Madison won Best Actress for Anora. The last one of course, disappointed a lot of Demi Moore fans, especially after she won both the Golden Globe and SAG Award but then again, that’s the thing about the Academy Awards, there seem to be quite a few baffling choices.

On the other hand, there are some moments which undeniably raise our eyebrows and make us gasp.

The Chewing Gum

As Brody rushed onstage to receive his award, he was seen tossing his half-chewed gum at his girlfriend Georgina Chapman, who even went ahead and caught it, with a broad smile on her face. True love? Gross? Should he have just kept it in his mouth or in the pocket?

Conan ki Hindi

Host Conan O’Brien spoke in Hindi, saying, “Bharat ke logo ko namaskar. Wahan subah ho chuki hai toh mujhe ummeed hai ke aap nashte ke saath Oscars dekh rahe honge (Greetings to the people of India. It is morning there, so I hope you are watching the Oscars along with your breakfast).” Sweet, right? However, netizens feel that he butchered the language on live TV. Well, can’t keep everyone happy during the age of social media.

Where are my glasses?

As Goldie Hawn and Andrew Garfield were onstage to present the award for Best Animated Feature, Garfield shared a sincere moment on how Goldie was responsible for bringing his late mother a lot of happiness during her life. This was followed by a tiny awkward, though endearing moment when Goldie asked him to read the teleprompter because she couldn’t see.

The X Files

As Lily-Rose Depp was presenting the award for Best Costume Design, right behind her a huge image of her ex, Timothée Chalamet came up. And she was presenting the award infront of him and his current girlfriend, Kylie Jenner. Blame it all on live TV, which never really goes according to plan, does it?

The Emilia Pérez songwriters singing during their acceptance speech

Yes, they won for Best Original Song. Clément Ducol, Camille, and Jacques Audiard accepted the award and toward the end, Camille broke out into song. Sorry to 16-time nominee Diane Warren who had to lose and sit through this.

Neither shaken, nor stirred

The seven-minute tribute to the James Bond franchise may have been a delight to Bond fans, but many felt that the time should have spent honouring David Lynch, probably with a Dune soundtrack choir performance. The comparison came to the fore primarily because the legendary director of films such as Blue Velvet (1986), Mulholland Drive (2001), and Twin Peaks (2014) was given only a five-second clip.

The Single Glove

Morgan Freeman gave an emotional tribute to late actor Gene Hackman, whose death along with his wife and dog is still shrouded in mystery. Discussions started, however, why Freeman was wearing only a single black glove on stage, a style statement? A silent message? Not really, if previous reports are to be believed he wears it after a car crash he was in 2008, which left his left arm seriously injured. It is a compression glove to keep the blood flowing.

The Return Kiss

In a kiss that absolutely no one saw coming, Halle Berry and Adrien Brody recreated their much talked about on-stage kiss from 2003 on the red carpet. As Brody was speaking to reporters, Berry came up to him and they proceeded to smooch, with the Academy’s official social media calling it, “A reunion 22 years in the making.”

How did Nora get there?

In a surprise moment, photos of Nora Fatehi and Karan Johar at the Vanity Fair party (happens after the Oscars) took the internet by surprise. While Johar wore an outfit by designer Gaurav Gupta, Nora opted for a golden gown by Oscar de la Renta.
