Vice Chancellor of Shulini University Atul Khosla shared the university’s comprehensive approach to change higher education in India, making international performance, state -of -the -art research, AI integration and mixture of entrepreneurship.
Global cooperation will give students a competitive lead
Atul Khosla said that all the programs of Shulini are conducted with foreign cooperation. It is noteworthy that the university has a strategic alliance with the University of Melbourne, which ranks 14th globally.
Students enrolled in dual degree programs study two years in India and two years in Melbourne, and receive degrees from both universities. There is also a partnership with Queen’s University.
‘Admission to these programs is highly competitive, and our goal is to select only the most serious and inspired candidates. To support them, we provide IELTS and Mathematics Coaching. These partnerships open global opportunities for our students. Our placement record is strong in all subjects, and many of our graduates go to further studies in institutions such as Harvard, Oxford and Stanford – especially from the Summit Research Program (SRP). Khosla said.
Focus on research
Answering a question on the placement vs. Research budget, Khosla said, “We have to move beyond running the most salary. India actually needs more researchers and entrepreneurs.”
He believes that India, which currently has a $ 4 trillion economy, should focus on preparing 3 million science, business and technology leaders to reach a $ 10 trillion.
Innovation through startup marathon
The university’s startup marathon is part of a comprehensive innovation campaign. He said, ” There is going to be exciting development in the next six months, for example, the Hindi-centric big language model (LLM) is expected to be launched. India needs more investment in research
Comparing between India and global universities, the Vice Chancellor said that top Indian institutions run on an annual budget of Rs 1,500 to 2,000 crore (about 300-400 million $ 300-400 million), while American universities such as Harvard or Eupain work on a budget of about $ 10 billion. He commented, “India should increase its research and development expenses and create a culture where researchers are respected”.
AI in all subjects
Shulini University has recently launched an AI and Future Center, which is 24 × 7 open and designed to welcome students from all regions. Khosla said, “As Word and Excel were basic 20 years ago, AI is the new essential skill.” He highlighted real-world applications such as AI-based breast cancer detection and hydrogen fuel simulation, which are already in progress.
Student startup
Shulini supports budding entrepreneurs through four dedicated innovation centers and a startup fund of Rs 5 crore. Khosla said, ‘We offer up to Rs 10 lakh per project. Students present their views and we provide them with funding and mentorship. ‘ There are also regular hackathons that help students test their ideas in real world scenarios.
