Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer filed an application for exemption from appearing in court, which was rejected by the court and asked him to appear. Giving information about this, advocate Keshav Prasad said that Rahul Gandhi gave a speech against the BJP at the Congress session on 28 March 2018. In this regard, BJP leader Pratap Kumar filed a defamation petition against Rahul Gandhi in CJM Court on 9 July 2018. Now after hearing the case, the court has issued a non -bailable warrant against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He has also been ordered to appear in court.

The case against Rahul Gandhi is five years old. On 20 February 2020, the case was transferred from the CJM Court to the Ranchi Special Court MP-MLA for hearing as per the Jharkhand High Court order. From where the case records were sent to Chaibasa Special MP-MLA Court. Taking cognizance of this, the Judicial Magistrate of MP-MLA Court sent summons to Rahul Gandhi, but he did not appear in the court. Even after the MP-MLA court issued a bailable warrant, Rahul Gandhi did not appear, but Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court to stop the warrant, which was settled on 20 March 2024. After this, the application was submitted by Rahul Gandhi demanding exemption from physical presence in Chaibasa MP-MLA Court, but it was rejected.
