Karnataka Gang Rape Case: 7 accused released on bail took out a rally for celebrations, 4 arrested again

News India Live, Digital Desk: Karnataka Gang Rape Case: In a tragic incident in Karnataka, the case of an inter -religious couple, who was a victim of “moral policing”, shook the entire community after sixteen months, when the accused in the case celebrated their bail celebrations with pomp.

Seven people accused of crime were granted bail, after which their release was celebrated publicly, which has been strongly condemned by the community members and activists.

The incident took place on 8 January last year, when the victim was in a relationship with the 40 -year -old Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) driver, staying in a private hotel in Hangal. Police investigation revealed that a group of men forcibly dragged the woman to a nearby forest, “where she was gang -raped.”

This violent act was initially recorded by the local police as an incident of moral policing due to the inter -religious relationship of the couple. Twelve others involved in the incident were released on bail about ten months ago.

According to the viral video, more than 20 supporters in five vehicles were part of the convoy that was paraded in the city.

A total of 19 people were arrested in connection with the case. Seven primary accused, Aftab Chandankatti, Madar Saab Mandakki, Samvullah Lalanwar, Mohammad Sadiq Agasmani, Shoaib Mulla, Tausip Choti and Riyaz Savikari, were in judicial custody for several months.

The victim’s testimony initially identified these suspects, due to which they were arrested. However, during the later court proceedings, she allegedly failed to recognize him decisively, which weakened the prosecution case.

On being released, the accused were welcomed with a public procession in Akki Alaur. A convoy of motorcycles and cars was with him on the local roads, supporters were shouting slogans in joy and showing signs of victory. Such a celebration has created anger among the workers, which has led to questions about the legal system of dealing with cases of sexual harassment and inter-religious relations in the field.

Following the public’s heavy criticism, the police arrested four of the seven accused again for violating bail conditions and sent them back to Havelri sub-Jail. The remaining three are absconding. There are four people arrested again: Samivullah Lalanwar 28, Mohammad Sadiq Agasimani 30, Shoaib Mulla 20 and Riyaz Savikkeri 32. The absconding people include: Aftab Chandankatti, 24, Mother Saab Mandki, 23 and Tausip Chhoti, 24.
