India-Pakistan Dispute: India declines another Pakistani officer in 8 days to leave the country

India-pakistan dispute: The Government of India on Wednesday declared another Pakistani officer working at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as an unwanted person in India for his official status. The government asked the officer to leave India within 24 hours.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, “An objection to this effect was issued to the in -charge of Pakistan High Commission today. They were asked to ensure that no Pakistani diplomat or officer in India should misuse his privileges and status in any way.”

This is the second such step in the last 8 days. Significantly, on 13 May, the Government of India had expelled a Pakistani officer for allegedly spying in India. The officer was identified as Danish.

The incident took place at a time when Haryana and Punjab Police arrested several people under the Government Security Act for spying for Pakistan. A travel blogger and YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra have also been arrested in the detective case.

Earlier, Pakistan also declared an Indian officer unwanted in retaliation. A statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said, “The Government of Pakistan has declared an employee of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad as unwanted in the activities contrary to his privileged position.” Islamabad also asked the Indian official to leave the country within 24 hours.

The expulsion of diplomats has occurred after the increased tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April. It is noteworthy that Pakistan-backed militants killed 26 tourists in Basarn grounds in Jammu and Kashmir. After the attack, India ran Operation Sindoor on 7 May and targeted 9 terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir. While India had made it clear that the exact attacks were only against the terrorists, the Pakistani army made it their personal battle and attacked India on 8 and 9 May. While India failed the attack, it retaliated on May 10, causing Pakistan to kneel and beg for the ceasefire.
