Cannes: Actor Dhanush is fully prepared to play his role in India’s missile man and 11th President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, which has been announced in the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The biopic, which is officially in construction, will be directed by Om Raut, who is known for “Tanhaji: The Unsang Warrior”.
The screenplay is written by Siwin Quadras, who has written films like the acclaimed biopic ‘Neerja’, ‘Maidan’ and ‘Atomic: The Story of Pokhran’.
The famous director talked about the biopic. He said in a statement, “In the age deprived of true politicians, Kalam stood above politics and parochiality. He was a person who was known for the power of education, excellence and indigenous innovation.”
Raut said, “Bringing his story on screen is an artistic challenge and moral and cultural responsibility. It is a story that is an inspiration for global youth and especially the youth of Global South.
According to the press release, “The film will be true to the values of Dr. Kalam and the missile programs and the person behind the presidency will show the poet, teacher, dreamer, which had both science and spirituality equally in every word. More than a political biography, this project is presented as an insight into leadership and nation-building.”
Manufacturer Abhishek Aggarwal also expressed his curiosity, saying, “We are excited to bring Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s epic life on the big screen. This is an emotional moment for us.”
Bhushan Kumar said, “The life of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is a story that has been inspiring millions of people for generations…. It is not just a film, it is a tribute to the person who showed us how dreams, dedication and humility can shape the future of a country.”
However, not much information has been shared by the manufacturers of the biopic.
The film is produced by Abhishek Aggarwal and Bhushan Kumar and it is produced by Abhishek Aggarwal, Bhushan Kumar, Krishna Kumar and Anil Sunkara.
