The current IPL season has been very poor for Chennai Super Kings. So far this team has played 13 matches and won only three. This is his worst session ever. Along with the performance of the team, MS Dhoni has also become the center of criticism. Dhoni is not in form at all this season and he has become a burden on the team. In such a situation, former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has given a statement about Dhoni’s retirement and now the discussion has started.

There has been a continuous discussion about the retirement of MS Dhoni throughout this season. Dhoni has said goodbye to international cricket in 2020 itself. Now he only plays in the IPL. Dhoni gets about eight to nine months for this, but Dhoni has not shown any sharpness in batting this season. After Rituraj Gaikwad was injured, he was given the captaincy again and he also failed here.

If I had retired…

Former batting coach of the Indian team Sanjay Bangar said that if Dhoni feels that the Chennai team under his leadership goes through a change, then it is the right time for him to retire. Bangar said that Dhoni should accept that even if he is not in the team, the franchise will move forward on its own.

Bangar said, “I think retirement depends on MS Dhoni, but if I had instead of MS, I would say that I had enough. I have played as much as I wanted to play. If there is any such inspiration then I also keep in mind the franchise, but you know that you can move forward.”

Sanjay Bangar further said, “If you think the change will happen very quickly, there may not be a better time for this. You should believe that even if I go away, the franchise will move on automatically. It may take a year, but I will not stay for the whole period. If I was in place of MS Dhoni, I would think the same.”

Dhoni’s performance

If we look at Dhoni’s performance in IPL-2025, there is nothing special in this. In the 13 matches played so far, only 196 runs have been scored with his bat. During this time his strike rate has been 135.17. Dhoni has come out to bat at a very lower level this season. He came at number 9 in a match and was criticized for this.

Dhoni did not achieve any success in any game this year and he was criticized a lot. Apart from this, there is also a discussion that Rohit and Kohli have retired from Test cricket one after the other and MS Dhoni should stop doing so with inspiration from him.
