Bhopal: Forged Bank Guarantee CBI Probe In One Case, Action Yet To Be Taken In Another | Representative Image

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): CBI has begun to probe a case of a forged bank guarantee attached to the MP Jal Nigam tenders.

Jal Nigam submitted forged bank guarantees to two joint venture companies out of four. The CBI has begun to probe one case. An order for probing the second case is yet to be issued.

The Jal Nigam submitted eight forged bank guarantees for the projects worth Rs 183 crore done under joint ventures of Teerth Gopican Limited and Ranjeet Buildcon Limited.

The CBI probe has begun following instructions from the high court. Similar is the case of MP Babariya and Ankit Constructions, which submitted five forged guarantees worth Rs 130 crore.

As the high court did not order a CBI probe, the government is yet to ask the agency to investigate the case. According to sources, Jal Nigam has sent the file to the Chief Secretary for ordering a CBI probe.

The central agency will start an investigation only after the state government’s approval. Before sending the case to CBI, the government had submitted it to EOW.

The high court handed over the case to CBI even before the EOW could register an FIR. The EOW is keeping away from the case.

Forged BG was submitted, says bank

The tenders and the bank guarantees submitted by the Jal Nigam are being turned into electronic bank guarantees. When the process was going on, the banks found several guarantees were forged. They also said the bank did not submit any such guarantees.

The bank guarantees that Jal Nigam attached to the tenders were turned into e-BG. According to sources, the tenders of these two companies have been cancelled.
