The film ‘Operation Khukri’ focuses on the actual events of the year 2000, when 233 Indian soldiers were held hostage by rebel forces in Sierra Leon, West Africa. This is followed by high -risk rescue operations run.
Hooda will play the role of Major General Raj Pal Punia (then a youth company commander of the 14th mechanized infantry), who carried out both a stressful deadlock and extraordinary rescue operations amid the challenging forest war situations.
The mission began as an attempt to establish a peace, but it turned into a tense deadlock that lasted for 75 days, which tested the resolve of the Indian military contingent, who found themselves surrounded by a supply in the hostile areas of Kalaun. According to the Variety report, there was a adventure counter attack, which was considered one of the most successful campaigns in Indian military history.

Hooda said about the upcoming project, “Operation Khukri” is a story that has influenced me deeply. It is not only a story of guns and pride, but is a story of indomitable courage in facing sacrifice, brotherhood and inaccessible obstacles. ” He further said, “It is a matter of honor and responsibility to come in the role of Major General Punia, who took out his soldiers after a siege of 75 days in an unknown land.”
Our aim is to bring alive a chapter in Indian military history that deserves more recognition not only for the spectacle, but for the spirit of our soldiers who prefer to die rather than surrendered. I believe that this story has the power to inspire every Indian, ”said Variety.
