As the IPL 2025 playoffs approaches closer, the Mumbai Indians have made significant moves to bolster their squad following the departures of some of the key players. The franchise confirmed that Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton, and Corbin Bosch will no longer play IPL 2025 owing to international commitments.

While Will Jacks has been called up by England for their white-ball series against the West Indies, South African duo Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch have been selected for the national squad ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia.

To fill the void, Mumbai Indians have brought in Wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow to replace Jacks. Bairstow join the team for the playoff phase at a signing amount of ₹5.25 crore.

In place of Rickelton, Mumbai has turned to experienced English pacer Richard Gleeson, who will be joining the squad for ₹1 crore. while Sri Lankan T20I captain Charith Asalanka has been named as the replacement for Corbin Bosch. Asalanka comes in at a reserve price of ₹75 lakhs

Mumbai Indians battle Delhi Capitals for place in Playoffs

The race for the fourth and final spot for IPL 2025 playoff has now narrowed down to Mumbai indians and Delhi Capitals after LSG’s loss to SRH. What are the chances of both Delhi and Mumbai making it to final four?

If MI beat DC at the Wankhede on May 21, they will move to 16 points and qualify for the playoffs even before they play their last league match against PBKS. DC will be knocked out because the maximum they can reach is 15 even if they win their last league game against PBKS.

However, if MI lose to DC, they will remain on 14 points while DC will move to 15 and the fight for that final playoff spot goes into their final league games against PBKS.

If DC beat MI and then beat PBKS in Jaipur on May 24, they will qualify for the playoffs with 17 points and knock out MI, who can reach a maximum of 16 points.

But if DC beat MI to get to 15 points but lose to PBKS, then MI can qualify with 16 points and knock DC out if they beat PBKS in Jaipur on May 26.
