News India Live, Digital Desk: Russia-ukraine ceasefire talks: After a 2.5 -hour important phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, an important incident has come to light in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As a result of this call on Monday, President Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine would immediately begin talks with the aim of achieving a ceasefire.
The announcement is a potentially significant turn in the conflict for three years, especially given the previous failure of the direct negotiations between Moscow and Kiev. Although both President Trump and President Putin have expressed vigilant optimism, the path of permanent peace agreement is still far away.
President Putin, after the call, while speaking to reporters in a well, confirmed that the attempt to solve the struggle is “generally in the right direction.” He said that Russia is in favor of a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis and is ready to cooperate with the Ukrainian side on a memorandum prepared by the possible future peace treaty.
According to Putin, various aspects will be included in this memorandum, including the principle of solution, the conditions of the potential peace agreement and the possibility of temporary ceasefire subject to appropriate agreements.
