Heart-Wrenching Accident in Hyderabad

Hyderabad fire accident: A G +2 building near Gulzar House near Charminar in Hyderabad caught fire on Sunday, killing 17 people, including 8 children, the youngest of 1.5 years old. According to sources, the Telangana state fire disaster response and early findings of emergency services have pointed to a series of structural flaws, storage threats and significant access issues, leaving no way to get out of the residents.

What was the cause of Hyderabad fire tragedy?

Officials said the fire broke out at around 6:16 am on Sunday and possibly due to a short circuit in the air conditioner unit located near the only ladder of the building.

Within a few minutes, the fire engulfed the narrow stairs, which closed the only way for those living on the upper floors.

Building details

Sources also stated that there was only one entry and exit, and it had the same internal ladder, which was less than one meter wide. In addition, it was also reported that there were no rear exhaust or alternative stairs, which could be used for escape or rescue.

The roof door, which could be used as emergency exit, was also closed. Although four residents were eventually rescued by the roof by the ladder, many others died.

There was a large amount of clothing in the building, causing the fire to spread rapidly and produced heavy and poisonous smoke. In addition, the building had no windows or outer doors towards the road, making it impossible to use hydraulic platform for quick ventilation or access.

Two -wheelers were parked at the main entrance point, causing the fire and further enraged, causing the heat to increase and the fire was difficult.

Challenges before firefighters

Since the fire was at the sole exhaust point, the ladder was filled with smoke and excessive heat, causing people to get stuck inside. The rescue team had to break a wall on the first floor to enter and start efforts to enter into efforts.

Hydraulic lift could not be used due to lack of access, and personnel had to use stairs to save people from the roof. The presence of clothes and synthetic materials also slowed down rescue and fire fighting work.

11 fire fighting vehicles and 87 employees were deployed at the scene of the fire and official investigation is going on.
