Weather’s Changed Mood: Clouds will rain in south and northeast including Delhi, heat stroke in UP-MP-Rajasthan

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a high alert weather warning on Sunday, which has predicted heavy rains in the southern, north-eastern and northern parts of India next week, while in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, the situation of heat stroke is likely to be at a peak.

Heavy rainfall in southern and coastal India

The western coastal states Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan and Goa are expected to have heavy rains between May 18 and May 24, which may increase the risk of waterlogging and floods at the local level.

IMD has also estimated thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds (30–50 km/h) in these states, due to which state disaster management officers will have to make necessary preparations to face the possibility of infrastructure and the possibility of transportation.

Delhi: Relief from heat, thunderstorm, light rain expected

The weather in Delhi is likely to be partially cloudy, light rain, thunder splashing with thunder and strong winds at a speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour, which can sometimes reach a speed of 50 km per hour during the storm. The temperature will remain in the meantime:

IMD officials say the capital may have a brief but acute seasonal activity, which can provide some relief from the heat.

There will be light to moderate rainfall in some parts of the western Himalayan region, as well as thunder storms and strong winds:

  • Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh: 18-20 May

Hot air conditions in northern and central India

There is a possibility of rain in some parts of India, while the states of North and Central India are expected to have scorching heat.

  • Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir: 16-17 May
  • Northern Madhya Pradesh: 18-19 May

IMD has advised to be careful about heat stress and encouraged people to stay hydrated, avoid external activities during busy time and monitor the symptoms of heat.
