Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): The police registered a case against a bridegroom and his family for cancelling a wedding ceremony.
The bridegroom’s family cancelled because the girl’s parents failed to give an SUV as dowry. The family members of the girl tried to pacify the bridegroom’s family, but it came to naught.
According to reports, a resident of Nuna, Ragni Patel, works as Sahayak Vikas Vistar Officer in the Janpad Panchayat. Her marriage was fixed with Krishnakant Patel, who is working as an assistant auditor in the Janpad Panchayat.
When the talks about the wedding were underway, there was no demand for an SUV. Everything was ready. Pre-wedding rituals were also performed on April 10 last year.
The wedding ceremony was to take place on May 11. But just before the marriage, the bridegroom’s family demanded a Scorpio car. Ragni’s father said he was not in a position to meet the demand. The tent was decorated for the wedding, but the bridegroom’s party did not arrive.
The parents of Ragni, with some of their relatives, reached the Garhimalhara police station and demanded action against the bridegroom’s family.
The police initially did not register a case. A meeting was held with both the families, but the issue was not resolved. The police station in charge, Reeta Singh, registered a case against the bridegroom and his family.
