Hit-and-Run: Woman Bank Manager Killed After SUV Rams Scooter In Bhopal; Minor Accused Detained |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic hit-and-run incident was reported in Bhopal on Saturday morning, where a bank manager lost her life after being hit by a speeding SUV reportedly driven by a minor.
The incident is said to occur around 11 am at the Narela Shankari crossing on Ayodhya Bypass.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Amrita Omkar, 40, a branch manager at HDFC Bank, Shakti Nagar branch. She was commuting to work on her scooter when the SUV rammed into her head-on.
Local residents rushed her to a private hospital, however, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Accused’s age yet to be confirmed
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Eyewitnesses claim the Scorpio was being driven recklessly at high speed. The alleged driver, believed to be a minor, attempted to flee the scene.
However, was apprehended by bystanders and handed over to the police. Police officials have not confirmed the age or identity of the driver, stating that details will be revealed only after formal arrest and verification.
Husband met with accident 4 months ago
Amrita is survived by her husband Amit Omkar and their four-year-old daughter. The couple had been married for 12 years and lived in Amrat Enclave. Amit, who previously held a senior position at Mahindra, has been on bed rest for the past four months following a serious accident. With Amit unable to work, Amrita was the sole breadwinner for the family at the time of her death.
At present, police are investigating the matter from all angles.
