Mumbai-During the raid by the Enforcement Directorate in the 41 unauthorized building scam case in Nalasopara, the officer of the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, Deputy Director of the City Planning Department, Y. Was arrested. S. Cash worth Rs 8.6 crore and diamond -studded jewelery worth Rs 23.23 crore were seized from Reddy’s Hyderabad residence. The ED seized a total of Rs 9.4 crore cash during a two -day raid.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now started investigating the entire scam after demolishing 41 unauthorized buildings in Aggarwal city of Nalasopara-East. These unauthorized buildings were built by former councilor Sitaram Gupta and his colleagues. Former councilor Dhananjay Gavade had complained to the ED that Municipal Corporation Officer and Deputy Director of Town Planning YS Reddy are responsible for these illegal constructions. The complaint alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to evict the residents and an inquiry into the case has been demanded. Accordingly, ED has been investigating the matter since last March.

On Wednesday, the ED team conducted a raid at 13 places including Vasai and Virar and started an investigation. Meanwhile, ED officials raided the Hyderabad residence of YS Reddy, Deputy Director of the Municipal Planning Department of Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation and seized diamond jewelery and gold worth about Rs 9.4 crore in cash and Rs 23.25 crore from Reddy’s house. Apart from this, various objectionable documents have also been seized. Due to this action, Deputy Director YS Reddy has once again come into the limelight. Apart from this, the matter of large-scale illegal construction in the management of Manpa officials in Vasai-Virar region has also come to light. According to the ED investigation, since 2009, the Municipal Corporation officials have been indulged in corruption on a large scale and have given open exemption to illegal construction. According to the ED, the builders in collusion with the authorities built illegal buildings and later presented false documents for their approval.

After being suspended in a bribery case, Reddy was again appointed to the post of Malidar.

YS Reddy’s term in Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation has been quite controversial. Reddy was initially an officer in CIDCO. After the establishment of the municipal corporation, he came on deputation. After this, in February 2012, he was appointed Deputy Director of Municipal Corporation. However, in April 2016, Reddy was caught by the Anti -Corruption Squad of Thane Anti -Corruption Bureau, a former Shiv Sena councilor Dhananjay Gavade, paying a bribe of Rs 25 lakh. Subsequently, since Reddy was originally a CIDCO officer, the Municipal Corporation sent him to CIDCO and freed him from the post of Deputy Director. On 9 May 2016, CIDCO suspended him and started an investigation. But, after this he approached the High Court. The court ordered that the Municipal Corporation had the right to suspend them and perform accounting investigations, after which they were restored in the Municipal Corporation service in 2019, while Temom was maintained in the municipal service.
