Mumbai – The Bombay High Court has ordered the removal of six videos uploaded by the state’s Water Resources Minister and senior BJP leader Girish Mahajan by two YouTubers. The High Court found the video prima facie derogatory.
Justice. Arif Doctor said in the order that after watching the video, a case of interim relief is being made. Saying that the statements made by the defense in the video were prima facie defamable, the court ordered the defense to remove the video from YouTube immediately.
The court has also directed not to put videos or posts considered abusive against Mahajan. The court has set further hearing on 20 June.
Mahajan filed a defamation suit against Anil Tatte and another person, claiming that he had made false and baseless allegations. In the interim application, Mahajan demanded instructions to remove both of them to remove six videos.
Five of these videos were uploaded on YouTuber and journalist Anil Tatte’s YouTube channel ‘Anil Gaganbhedi Tatte’. Another video was shown on the channel ‘issue of India’ run by Shyam Giri. Mahajan’s lawyer said that the video had a wrong statement and satire about Mahajan’s behavior with a female IAS officer, who were completely false and defamatory.
