Mumbai: India has completed 4.24 lakh tonnes of sugar exports so far from the current Chinese season from October 2024-25. The All India Sugar Trade Association reported that the most sugar exported to 92,758 tonnes Somalia.

A total of 1 million tonnes of sugar exports have been allowed in the current Chinese season. The association said in a statement that the mills had exported a total of 4,24,089 tonnes of sugar by April 30.

Apart from Somalia, 66,927 tonnes of sugar has been sent to Afghanistan. In addition, Sri Lanka is also a major importer of sugar from India.

It is further stated in the list that in view of the current situation, eight lakh tonnes of sugar can be exported from India despite the permission of one million tonnes in the current season.
