Myanmar Army Aerial attack on his own school, killing 20 students and two teachers. The attack took place on Monday morning when the children were studying in school. More than 50 people were injured in this attack. According to local media, this school was associated with pro -democracy movement. Myanmar’s army has not issued any official statement regarding this attack.

Why the air attack on the school?

The attack took place in a village in Sagiing area, 115 km from Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar. According to an AP report, local people claim that fighter aircraft bombed the school. Three nearby houses also suffered heavy damage.

The National Unity Government spokesman said on the phone that the army deliberately attacks places like schools, hospitals and monasteries. The army is making false claims that the rebels are hiding here. But their goal is to keep people scared.

Such attacks have taken place earlier.

It is noteworthy that Myanmar’s army has been accused of carrying out airstrikes on its own citizens several times before. In September 2022, a school in the same area was attacked, killing 13 people, including 7 children. A ceremony was attacked in 2023 in which 160 people were killed.

Military rule in Myanmar

In February 2021, Myanmar’s army overthrew the Aung San Suu Ki government and captured power. Since then, the army has been continuously taking action against the rebels to maintain power.
