Mandleshwar (Madhya Pradesh): Senior session judge and district legal services authority secretary Preeti Jain visited construction workers at building site on Choli Road in Mandleshwar, on Monday.
During this legal literacy camp, workers shared their various difficulties with the judge.
Workers described problems ranging from not receiving benefits under the PMAY to issues obtaining food grains and updating their Aadhar cards. Preeti listened carefully to their concerns before explaining important eligibility requirements for government assistance programmes.
The judge clarified that PMAY benefits are available only to those who own registered land in their name and currently stay in mud houses. She emphasised that workers must obtain proper labour registration cards, Sambal cards and Ayushman cards to access government welfare schemes.
Judge Jain also highlighted the importance of having proper driving licences and vehicle insurance. She warned that driving without these documents could lead to serious financial consequences in case of accidents, potentially forcing people to sell property to cover treatment costs or compensation payments for injured parties.
The judge offered assistance to help workers obtain driving licences during the camp. She stressed that legal compliance protects them from future hardships and ensures they can access their rightful government benefits.
