Reacting to the proposal of Russian President Putin, Ukrainian President Zelanski said that the fact that Russia has finally considered the end of the war is a positive sign, the world has long been waiting for the ceasefire, and the first step to end any war is the ceasefire. We hope that Russia will guarantee full, permanent and reliable ceasefire from May 12, and Ukraine is also ready for the ceasefire.
However, Russian President Putin has made it clear that if Ukraine accepts the current proposal of talks, Russia will not do a ceasefire. Putin has now proposed a peace talks in Istanbul on 15 May before Ukrainian President Zalensky. On the other hand, Turkish President Recep Tayyap Erdogan said in a press conference that Türkiye is ready to host talks between the two countries to establish peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Russia has now clarified that the dialogue with Ukraine will be done unconditionally. This means that the Russian President has now rejected Ukraine’s demand for ceasefire. However, the two countries are ready to find a way through negotiations to establish peace. Amidst these peace signals, US President Donald Trump said that this week is the most important for Russia and Ukraine. I hope this war will end and thousands of people will be saved. I will do my best to succeed in establishing peace between the two countries.
