Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Monday in his first speech since the launch of Operation Sindoor, praising the “immense courage” of Indian soldiers and warning adversaries against testing India’s resolve.
Speaking in a televised broadcast, the Prime Minister began by commending security forces for their restraint and precision. “We have witnessed both the nation’s capabilities and self-control in recent days,” he said. “On behalf of every citizen, I salute our armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists.”
Modi described the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians on April 22, as “the most barbaric face of terrorism” and a personal tragedy. In a stern message, he stated that enemies had now faced the consequences of “removing sindoor from the foreheads of our women,” a symbolic reference to India’s retaliation.
“We have granted the Indian Army full operational freedom to eradicate terrorists,” he declared. “Every terrorist and their backers now understand the price of dishonouring our sisters and daughters.”
The Prime Minister highlighted May 7, when India executed precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, as the day “the world saw our resolve turn into action.” “Our missiles and drones didn’t just destroy terror infrastructure—they shattered the enemy’s morale,” he asserted.
In a stern warning to Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India had only “paused” military action against its neighbour, not ceased it permanently.
“Our armed forces – the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, BSF, and paramilitary units – remain on continuous alert,” the PM emphasised. He underscored that Operation Sindoor now formed part of India’s counter-terrorism doctrine, following earlier responses like the Surgical Strike and airstrikes.
