Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation will conduct a large-scale mock drill titled “Operation Abhyas” on Tuesday, May 13, at 4:00 PM. The drill will take place at Neelsiddhi Tower, A and B Wing, near NMMT Terminus, Plot No. 95, Sector 12, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. This exercise is part of a national-level preparedness initiative under the guidelines set by the Union Home Department.

The purpose of Operation Abhyas is to assess and enhance the readiness of emergency response agencies in the event of crises such as airstrikes or bomb attacks. The mock will be overseen by key officials, including Thane District Collector and Civil Defence Force Controller Ashok Shingare, NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailash Shinde, and several senior administrative and emergency services personnel.

An X post shared by NMCC confirmed details about the mock drill that took place in Vashi on May 13. They mentioned the sequence of events, the officials involved, and the agencies that participated in the drill.

The sequence of events during the drill includes the sounding of a siren, issuance of a simulated airstrike or bomb alert, and the safe evacuation of citizens. Emergency response teams will then conduct a search and rescue operation, provide first aid to mock casualties, and ensure secure coordination across all agencies.

Residents in the area are advised not to panic or spread rumours. The drill is purely a simulation, and no real threat exists. Citizens are requested to avoid taking selfies, stay calm, follow official instructions, and fully cooperate with the authorities during the exercise.

The officials have urged all involved agencies and citizens to take the mock drill seriously. The administration assures that all necessary precautions are in place and appeals for public support to ensure the smooth and effective execution of Operation Abhyas.
