Due to change in PPAC fee by power distribution companies, the electricity bill of electricity consumers in Delhi will increase by 7 to 10 percent during the May-June period. Officials gave this information on Sunday.
Power Purchase Adjustment Charge (PPAC) means increase by power generation companies due to increase in cost of fuel like coal and gas. It is charged from consumers by electricity distribution companies. It is added as a percentage in the fixed fee and energy fee (how much unit units of electricity).
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) had allowed the three power distribution companies to recover the power purchase adjustment fee (PPAC) spent between October to December 2024 from consumers in May-June 2025.
PPAC rates have been fixed at 7.25 percent for BRPL, 8.11 percent for BYPL and 10.47 percent for TPDDL. There has been no response from the power distribution companies to this growth approved by DERC.
