Haldighati Battle

The Battle of Haldighati, which took place on June 18, 1576, is one of the most legendary battles in Indian history. It was a clash involving the troops of Maharana Pratap, the king of Mewar, and the Mughal forces commanded by Raja Man Singh I of Amber, a general under Emperor Akbar.

The conflict arose when Akbar attempted to dominate Mewar to ensure access to Gujarat’s seaports, which traverse Mewar, while Maharana Pratap refused to yield his realm. He battled with only 3,000 soldiers and 400 Bhil archers against Akbar’s 85,000 troops.

Despite the Mughals achieving victory, this battle is eternally regarded as the most significant of Maharana Pratap’s life because of the intense resistance he displayed, allowing the king to escape successfully. Thanks to his famous horse ‘Chetak,’ he managed to escape the battlefield and secure his safety.
