News India Live, Digital Desk: Operation Sindoor: Security has been increased in the northern and western regions of the country after India carried out missile attacks on terrorist bases under ‘Operation Sindoor’ in Pakistan and PoK after the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam. At least 25 airports have been temporarily closed as a precaution. More than 300 domestic and international flights have been affected by this action.
Closed airports include major airports like Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Leh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala, Jamnagar and Rajkot. Several foreign airlines including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India Express, Akasa Air have also announced to cancel flights.
According to the IndiGo airline, more than 165 flights have been canceled till the morning of May 10. At the same time, around 140 flights of Air India and Air India Express have been affected. The ban has been imposed after the missile attack by the Indian Army on terrorist bases in Pakistan on Wednesday.
The Government of India has also sealed at least 25 flight routes going to Pakistan, which has made it impossible to use Pakistan’s aircraft for foreign airline. Airlines have been advised to use an alternative route.
India has taken this step in response to Pakistan on 24 April to shut down its aircraft for Indian airlines. These steps have been taken due to increasing tension between the two countries. It has been clarified by the army that India will give a befitting reply on any kind of provocation from Pakistan.
