According to the Panchang, the Mohini Ekadashi date started on May 7 at 10:19 am, which will end at 12:29 pm on May 8. According to Udayatithi, the victory of Mohini Ekadashi Puja will be from 2:32 pm to 3:36 pm today. At the same time, the fast will be passed on May 9 from 5:34 am to 8:16 pm.
Importance of Mohini Ekadashi:
According to the legend, Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini when there was a dispute between the gods and the Asuras at the time of churning the ocean. In the form of Mohini, Lord Vishnu protected the gods by giving them nectar. For this reason, worship of Lord Vishnu’s Mohini avatar has special significance on this day.
Mohini Ekadashi fast story:
In ancient times, there was the kingdom of King Dutiman in Bhadravati Nagar. There Vishnu devotees named Dhanpal lived there, who had five sons. The youngest son among them was indulged in a listening, bad habits. Fed up, Dhanpal expelled him from the house, causing his situation to worse.
The dignity wandered one day and reached the ashram of Maharishi Kaundinya and under the guidance of Maharishi, fasted the Mohini Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month with reverence. All his sins were destroyed by the effect of fasting and he finally attained salvation.
It is believed that by fasting on Mohini Ekadashi, one gets freedom from sins and by listening to the story or reading, thousands of cows are achieved.
