The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has announced the postponement of its planned protest march from Vashi to Thane, which was originally scheduled to take place tomorrow. The march, organized by CIDCO housing allottees, was to culminate at the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The party had earlier announced on Thursday, May 8, from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk in Vashi to the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Thane. The protest was aimed at demanding a reduction in the exorbitant prices of homes allotted under CIDCO’s housing lottery scheme.
MNS City President and spokesperson Gajanan Kale informed the media that the decision to defer the march was taken in light of recent developments on the national security front. “After the Indian Army’s strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan last night, the security situation in the country has shifted. While our soldiers are bravely serving on the borders, it would be inappropriate to carry out a protest march at this time,” Kale stated.
The march has now been rescheduled for Sunday, 11 May 2025. Organizers emphasize that the protest is being deferred out of respect for national interests, not canceled, and the demands of the CIDCO allottees remain firm.
MNS Navi Mumbai City Secretary Sachin Kadam urged citizens and the media to take note of the new date and continue supporting the cause.
