Mumbai – A 20 -year -old woman from Vasai committed suicide, as her marriage proposal was rejected on the basis that she had death in her horoscope and she was from the lower caste. In this case, the Vasai police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the girl’s lover and her father, but both have escaped.
A 20 -year -old Revathi Nile, a resident of Vasai, was studying at the college. She was in a love affair with 21 -year -old Ayush Rana for the last four years. Ayush used to study in his own class. They live in a society in Vasai. During this time, Ayush promised to marry and made physical relations with her several times. But later when he was asked about marriage, he started avoiding. He also blocked Revathi’s number. This made her disappointed.
Tired, Revathi contacted Ayush’s parents. At that time, he also raised his hands up. Ayush’s father Ajay Rana (51) said, “Since you are from the lower caste and there is death in your horoscope, I cannot marry my son to you.” Distressed by this, Revathi committed suicide by consuming drugs to kill a rat in her house on 27 April. In this case, Vasai police have registered a case under Section 108, 3 (5) of the Indian Penal Code against father-son Ajay Rana and Ayush Rana for abetment of suicide. Both people have run away.
The Rana family is also accused of doing witchcraft.
Ajay Rana (51), father of accused Ayush Rana, is a technician. He was performing various religious rituals on Revathi. A rope was given to tie his hand. He often gave him to keep his ashes in the bag. Dinesh Kale, brother of the deceased Revathi, told the Vasai police that Rana was saying that by doing this, the guilt inside you will be removed and you will be married. He has demanded that the Rana family be accused of witchcraft and action should be taken against them by registering a case under the Prevention of Superstition Act.
