News India Live, Digital Desk: Badrinath Temple History: Badrinath Dham located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand is one of the famous four dhams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple opens only 6 months in a year, when millions of devotees arrive to see God. The process of opening the doors of the temple is extremely special and traditional. Three keys are used to open the doors of the temple, only when the doors of the temple are opened.

Unique importance of three keys

Three different keys are used to open the doors of the Badrinath temple. This tradition is centuries old and a particular process is followed behind it. Every year on the day of Vasant Panchami, in the court of the Maharaja of Tehri, the date and auspicious time of the opening of the temple is determined by scholars through the calculation of almanac.

Who keeps these three keys?

  • First key: It is near the representative of the Tehri royal family, who open the lock on behalf of the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee.
  • Second key: Bhandari of Bamani village is near the wholesaler’s representative.
  • Third key: Mehta of Bamani village is near the representative of the wholesale.

Before the fixed Muhurta, these three keys are delivered to the temple and the doors of the temple are opened only after worshiping in full law. The temple remains closed for six months in winter, then these three representatives protect these keys.

This mythological and religious tradition is followed every year, which creates an atmosphere of devotion and enthusiasm among the devotees at the time of opening the doors of the temple.
