Maharashtra HSC Result 2025: MSBSHSE Class 12 Overall Pass Percentage Is 91.88%; Girls Outshine Boys | Representative Image

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Monday declared the results of  the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, recording an impressive overall pass percentage of 91.88%.  A total of 14,27,085 regular students had registered across the state’s nine divisional boards for the February-March 2025 exams, with 14,97,969 eventually appearing. Of these, 13,02,873 students successfully cleared the examination.

However, this year’s result marks a slight decline from last year’s performance. In 2024, the overall HSC pass percentage stood at 93.37%, indicating a fall of nearly 1.5 percentage points. While the success rate remains high, the downward shift suggests the need for renewed focus on academic consistency and support mechanisms.

Among the nine divisions, Konkan once again emerged as the top-performing region, achieving a remarkable pass rate of 96.74%. It was followed closely by Kolhapur at 93.64%, Mumbai at 92.93%, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar at 92.24%. Other divisions including Amravati, Pune, Nashik, and Nagpur also fared well, maintaining pass percentages above 90%. Latur, however, stood at the bottom of the list with an 89.46% pass rate, being the only division to fall below the 90% mark.

A significant highlight of this year’s results was the continued outperformance of girls over boys. The pass percentage among girls stood at 94.58%, compared to 89.51% among boys—a notable gap of 5.07 percentage points. Out of the total students who passed, 6,76,972 were boys and 6,25,901 were girls. This consistent trend reflects both improved participation and academic achievement among female students in the state.

Stream-wise, the Science stream recorded the highest success rate with 97.35% of students passing, reaffirming its status as a stronghold of academic performance. Commerce students also did well, achieving a pass percentage of 92.68%. The Arts stream lagged behind with a comparatively lower pass percentage of 80.52%, while Vocational and ITI streams posted results of 83.26% and 82.03% respectively.

The performance of differently-abled students was also commendable. Of the 7,310 such students who registered, 7,258 appeared for the examination, and 6,705 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 92.38%, which is higher than the overall state average.

In terms of classification of results, 1,49,932 students passed with distinction, 4,07,438 secured a first class, 5,80,902 achieved second class, and 1,64,601 passed in the general category. These figures indicate a strong performance across the board, with a significant number of students attaining high marks.

This year’s results reflect Maharashtra’s ongoing commitment to academic progress, despite a slight dip from 2024. With sustained support and reforms, the state is well-placed to strengthen outcomes in the years ahead.
