New Delhi, May 5: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed several Indian states to conduct mock drills on Wednesday (May 7) to strengthen civil defence readiness in case of emergencies or hostile attacks. The government issued the orders in the wake of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. The attack claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
Key Activities:
1 Air Raid Warning Sirens will be tested for operational readiness.
2 Civilians and students will be trained on how to protect themselves during an attack.
3 Crash blackouts will be practiced to reduce visibility during emergencies.
4 Camouflaging vital installations like factories or plants will be demonstrated.
5 Evacuation plans will be updated and rehearsed.
These drills aim to ensure public awareness and faster response in case of national threats.
