News India Live, Digital Desk: The residents of Lucknow are going to get a big relief from the traffic problem soon. The work of constructing a new four -lane Arch bridge over the capital’s Gomti river has started. On Sunday, regional MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora inaugurated the project by worshiping Bhoomi.
Bridge characteristics
The new bridge will be about 180 meters long and 20 meters wide, for which pavements will also be built for pedestrians. The construction of the bridge will cost around Rs 92 crore (9289.41 lakh) and is expected to be ready by June 2027.
About five lakh people will get relief
The construction of the new bridge will provide great relief to about five lakh people living in Lucknow Chowk, Khadra, Madayganj, Faizullaganj, Daliganj, Trivenagar and surrounding areas. Currently, local residents are facing inconvenience due to the closure of heavy vehicles on the 111 -year -old British red bridge. The new bridge will prove to be a permanent solution to this problem.
historical significance
MLA Dr. Bora informed that the old pucca bridge on the Gomti River was built in the year 1914 by the British Viceroy Lord Harding. This bridge is an example of the British -era architecture, which the locals know both the paved bridge and the red bridge. The need to build a new bridge has been felt due to the weakening of the old bridge.
This new project will not only solve the traffic problem but will also strengthen the development and infrastructure of Lucknow city.
