Angry local agitators pelted stones during the agitation in Kumbharawal village. The police then detained six people. However, the local people have accused the police of lathicharge.

In this regard, residents of the surrounding villages are raising objections to the proposed international airport at Purandar. These people are preventing government officials from using drones. According to officials, on Friday, some local people damaged a drone being used for land survey. Then on Saturday, those who opposed the survey staged a protest at the proposed site. When the police tried to remove the vehicles parked on the road, the protesters started throwing stones. In which 18 policemen were injured.

After the incident, the police detained six protesters and started the process of registering the case. Meanwhile, the locals claimed that an 87 -year -old woman from a village died of a heart attack as she was concerned about the airport project, but the SP clarified that her death had no connection with the proposed airport project. The woman’s son alleged that her mother was under extreme stress, as she feared that her land would be taken to the proposed airport.

Baramati MP and NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule described Saturday’s protests and clashes as extremely unfortunate.
