8 injured in attack: Air India aircraft sent to Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv flights canceled for four days
The Hurtiers, a Iran -backed Iran -based Hurti rebels, attacked a ballistic missile at Israel’s largest airport on Sunday. Eight people were injured in the attack, who were rushed to the hospital. Although the airport did not suffer any major loss, but the big concern for Israel is that Israeli’s air defense system, which has been fighting Hamas for more than one and a half years, is being considered heavy.
Israeli’s air defense system has so far failed the attacks of Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthi rebels. But on Sunday, the Terminal 3 of Israel’s busiest Ben Gurian Airport fell at a distance of 35 meters by breaking the four-tier defense system of a missile airport fired by Houthi rebels. Where the missile fell, there was a 25 meter deep pit. After this attack, the Israeli army has started investigating the incident. On the other hand, Hurti rebels took responsibility for the attack and said that they attacked the attack in Gaza to show strong support towards Palestinian citizens. Mohammad al-Bukhiti, a top official of the Houthi rebellion, said that with this attack, the Hothis have demonstrated their ability to attack sensitive goals in Israel. There is no limit for us in the fight against Israel.
The attack on the airport took place a few minutes before the Air India aircraft from Delhi to Tel Aviv. Due to the attack, the aircraft had to turn towards Abu Dhabi. Air India confirmed the incident, saying that their aircraft was reaching near Ben Gurian Airport, when a missile fell at the airport, causing the aircraft to turn towards Abu Dhabi. From there this flight will be brought to New Delhi.
With this, Air India has canceled all flights to Tel Aviv till 7 May. “To ensure the safety of our customers and employees, all flights to Tel Aviv have been canceled with immediate effect till 7 May,” said an Air India spokesman.
Like Air India, Germany’s Lufthansa, British Airways, Air India and other airlines like Delta Airlines of America have also decided to cancel flights to Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, after the missile attack by Houthi rebels, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting of Defense Minister Israel Katz and other top security officers on Sunday to discuss the plan of attack on Houthi rebels. Preparations for attacks on the assets of Houthi rebels in Yemen were also discussed. Netanyahu also met the cabinet, which discussed the expansion of military operations in Gaza, fighting in Syria, hathi attacks and other issues.
